Tell the world your name.

Marsha Reece

Where were you born specifically?

I was born here in this great town we call Guthrie America.

When did you move to Guthrie?

Well, you see. I never moved away from Guthrie.

What's your favorite Guthrie-related memory?

I remember as a kid my mom and dad always going to Bob's White Rock Cafe on Saturday mornings to read the paper and drink coffee.

I always got chocolate milk. It would be a challenge for me to tell the lady at the counter what I wanted, but my parents wouldn’t let me get anything unless I told them. I was a pretty shy kid and this helped me overcome my shyness.

I also ended up marrying the lady’s grandson that worked at the counter. Pretty cool huh.

What's the best part about living in Guthrie?

Goodness! There are so many best parts! I would say getting to witness how the community comes together in tragedies, fundraising, church and sporting events.

Having Red Brick Nights is pretty cool too.

What does Guthrie have that other towns don't?

I think Guthrie has a lot of people who just genuinely care about each other. Some people have known each other for years and some have grown up together. We have a drive-in. We have a Pollard theater. We have Red Brick Nights. We have the Victorian Walk. And so many cool things to do all the time.

Are you a GHS alumni?

Bluejay all the way!

Where do you currently work and how long?

I have worked for our local Walmart for almost 27 years.

What do you love most about your job?

Getting to see people everyday! That is how I get to stay connected to people who live here. Everyone shops at Walmart right!

If you grew up in Guthrie and had your first job here...where? Did you get fired?

Walmart was the 1st job and may be my last. Ha.

Do you have family here? If so explain...

I do have family here. My parents and brothers all live here with their families. I have my grandma who is 92 who lives here as well.

How did you first hear or learn about the GuthrieAmerica brand?

I remember seeing people wearing them here and there and just wondering where they were getting them. Then there was post about the local boutique selling them. Pretty soon the whole family had a Guthrie America tee.

Why do you wear GuthrieAmerica tee?

For me, I like to wear them to let everyone know where I'm from. I like the story behind why they were designed too.

What are your favorite things to do in Guthrie?

I love going to Red Brick Nights! I feel like I have said that in all my questions lol! I love homecoming time and watching bluejay football. Going to the parade is really fun too.
I also love running the streets of Guthrie on my jogs. The history of Guthrie is pretty amazing.

How would you define what it means when you hear or say COMMUNITY WINS?

Community wins is when we can all be there for each other. Volunteering. Shopping here, Spending our time here.

Community wins is about putting others before yourself..

Anything significant about your life you would like to share?

Oh geez! Getting to raise 4 children, being married to the love of my life, running a couple of marathons and serving a God that makes all these things possible is pretty significant for me!
My 1st born (Kaleb) who was born prematurely weighing 1 lbs 14oz and having cerebral palsy, beating all odds of living and is 23 years old now is pretty significant too!

I’m blessed. Truly blessed.

Lastly, we love SHOUT OUTS! Who do you want to give a shout out to?

Shout out to God for showing out in my life! Jesus for being my personal savior! My parents who showed us the importance of faith and family. My husband Jason Reece for being awesome! My brothers who showed me how to be tough. And my kids for making me feel blessed! I have to throw in there Heady for being an inspiration to my family.

Wait, one more. What does it mean to CHOOSE GUTHRIE?

Choose Guthrie to me is spending your time, money, and service here. Shopping here, going to church here, choosing Guthrie for everything you possibly can. .
